DENMARK, Ga. - Mrs. Sybil Anderson McElveen, 95, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice In-Patient Facility in Statesboro. A Bulloch County native, she lived most of her life in the Denmark Community. Born March 8th, 1911, Sybil was the 2nd of nine children of Franklin Hart Anderson and Ruth Proctor Anderson. She was married on July 18th, 1931, to Wilbur Vincen McElveen, who passed away on May 18th, 1995. Until her death, Sybil was the oldest living member of Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Black Creek Church Ladies Circle and the Denmark Homemakers Club. Mrs. McElveen was a former member of Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a beloved 4-year-old daughter, Ruth Annay McElveen; infant great-grandson, Joshua Brandon McElveen; and seven siblings, Myrtle Anderson, Sewell Morgan Anderson, Frank Harold Anderson, Ada Mae Anderson Purvis, Iva Lou Anderson Heape, Deral Edwin Anderson and Benita Anderson Black.


The funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Keith Hamilton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Patrick McElveen.
