Harlan E. Ackermann, 87, was a son of William and Mary Molck Ackermann.

Mr. Ackermann graduated from Sibley Community High School in 1936 and worked in construction for much of his life.

He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the 36th division in the military police. He was awarded the Bronze Arrowhead, American Service Ribbon, Silver Battle Star, one service stripe, Good Conduct Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater and four overseas service bars. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

He was a past commander of Martin Suntkin American Legion Post 244, the Elliott VFW, the Sibley American Legion and St. John's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by a sister, Florence Hutson and a brother, William Ackermann.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
