Sarah Ann Carter Thompson is the daughter of Henry Carter and Martha Parham. Sarah married Samuel Jefferson Thompson in May 1828 in Buncombe Co, North Carolina. They migrated to the Cartecay area of Gilmer Co in the late 1830's. Sarah is the sister of George B., Patsy and Preshus Carter. She is the mother of Margaret, Mary Ann, Nancy Jane, James Jefferson, Martha, Dorcus E., John W., Sarah and Nancy Louisa ( my line ) Thompson. Sarah donated the land for the church in 1882 and in 1930 Joe Thompson donated more land to the church. Sarah is buried in the church cemetery.
