Little can be found on William without following the migration trail. He was born in Virginia but sometime about 1785 his family migrated to Kentucky.

William married Jane Biggs in Shelby Co Kentucky in 1805. Soon after their marriage William and Jane migrated to Indiana Territory (now Clark Co Indiana). Soon after the birth of their oldest child, George Edmond Crist, they moved back to Kentucky because of Indian trouble where most of their other children were born. Later they moved to Clay Co Indiana were William and Jane died. The census records show William and his family were in Clay County Indiana. It is believed William and Jane were buried in Friendly Grove Cemetery in Clay County Indiana however no headstone has been found.

William and Jane had nine children, some of his descendants are still living in Clay Co Indiana area.

In the Minutes of the Friendly Grove Church states the following "Old Bro William Crist - died April 11 1840.

Much can be found in the Friendly Grove Church and Union Baptist Church minutes in Clay County Indiana where his oldest son, George was an elder/minister.

The military records of Robert Biggs Sr. states three Biggs daughter and one son married three Crist brothers and one sister.
