June's parents were Henry Stevens Goodwin and Rose Ellen Ryder Goodwin. She and her 1st Cousin Charlotte both were raised as Catholics and attended Saint Anne's Catholic School, San Francisco, San Francisco, California through their childhoods. Her parents divorced and in about 1928 her Mother remarried to a man named Frawley, for many years she went by this surname. For almost all of her childhood she lived with her maternal Grandparents Martin John and Rose Ryder and her Mother in a two story house that had living quarters on the second floor and a Funeral Home/Mortuary on the ground floor as her Grandfather was an Embalmer/Undertaker. She had some very interesting stories to tell of this time.

June was married to Harvey Nicholas Gruber on July 24, 1941 in Reno, Washoe County, Nevada.

They met while they both were making chocolate and confectioneries for a company in Berkeley. June passed along a recipe for the very best Divinity, that she created, to her family. And she always made some for Christmas each year. She also had burn scars on her fore arms and hands from the hot caramel splashing onto her from this job for the rest of her life.

After June and Harvey married they lived for a while with his Mother over in Berkeley while Harvey was attending College and working for the Berkeley Fire Department. In 1953 they moved to Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California to help Harvey's career and College time, he was then attending Santa Rosa Junior College. June was a very active participant in helping her family and her husband's career to grow. Harvey started working for the California State Fire Training Office, as Teacher of Fire Science and he did a lot of traveling all over the State to different Volunteer and Paid Departments. As was the times she was a very busy hostess and she was always expected to attend major Organizational events as Harvey was the President of the California State Fireman's Association for many years.

June also helped her daughter when the time came to plan her wedding. It was a very nice wedding. And June was still actively helping her son with his sports endeavors too.

June and Harvey moved to "Sunset Whitney" now Rocklin, Placer County, California in 1975 and very much enjoyed living in this new area and home. It was still a small community at that time. Harvey helped as Fire Chief of a new Volunteer Fire Department called Sunset Whitney V.F.D. And he was very active till his death in 1983. At this time June stepped back from actively working in the community and became a major driving force in her Grand Children's lives. Her second oldest Granddaughter moved back in with her and they were very busy till Grandma June passed away in 1991 at age 68, she had been ill for a time.

Grandma June had two children, a son and a daughter. And six grandchildren and four/now eleven great grandchildren.

This is a work in progress right now.
