Master Chief Boatswain's Mate, Ralph R. Doll, U.S. Navy (retired) 88, passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2015.

Ralph was born on January 2,1927 in Reading, PA to Frank and Emma Doll; one of 14 children.

After Joining the Navy in 1944, Ralph proudly served his country for 31 years with tours of duty including Norfolk, Owensboro KY, and Long Beach, CA.

Ralph was a Veteran of WW II, The Korean War, and The Vietnam War, and retired in 1974. Ralph then received a Bachelors Degree from Norfolk State University in 1980. He then taught at Norfolk Public Schools.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years Betty, sister Edna Kemp, sons Ralph Jr.,and wife Judith, Frank and wife Elizabeth, David and wife Tatyana, daughter Lorie and husband Mark Humphrey, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Saturday, May 9, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home on Norview Avenue.

The service will be held at 11 am, Monday, May 11, at Norview UMC. Burial service with Full Military Honors will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
