Joyce Jean Pinney was born June 2, 1935 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to James H. and Eunice Bessie (Bloss) Brockett. She was called home on May 10, 2015, at the age of 79.
Although Joyce was not a member of church she truly loved the Lord and is now in his presence.
Joyce was a graduate of Springfield Township High School in West Springfield, Pennsylvania in 1953. For 23 years she was employed as a cook at Go Ye Village.
As a young adult she enjoyed playing softball and fishing. More recently she enjoyed watching birds, working in puzzle books, spending time with her family, and praying for all of those she met daily.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, James and Eunice; nine siblings, Doris Brockett, James Brockett, Arlene Brockett, Nelson Brockett, Dale Brockett, Arthur Brockett, Lee Brockett, Elaine Eunice Warner, and Winnie Skelton; a son, Dennis Pinney; and great grandson, Christian Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Pat Michael Pinney, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Cindy Pinney also of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Connie Rossiter of Edinboro, Pennsylvania; four grand daughters, Amber Simon and husband Tony of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Nicole Burke of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jaynie Rossiter, and Faith Rossiter both of Cory, Pennsylvania; and grandson, Josh Garde and wife Heather of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; three great grand children, Kieser Garde, and Natalie and Jordan Burke; brother-in-law, James Skelton; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the employees of Cherokee County Nursing Center and Hospice Advantage for their kindness and care given to their loved one during her illness.
