Katherine Marie Malone, 30, Lenexa, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, while on duty as an emergency medical technician in Edwardsville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Open Door Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Tell City, Ind. Visitation was Wednesday at Maple Hill Funeral Home.
Ms. Malone was born Jan. 8, 1974, in Dayton, Ohio, and had lived in the Kansas City area for 10 years. She grew up in Richmond, Ind., and was a 1992 graduate of Richmond High School. She had been a paramedic for M.A.S.T. for seven years. She began working as a lifeguard in high school, and continued to enjoy lifeguarding in her spare time.
Survivors include her mother Mary Jane Malone, Richmond, Ind.; her birth mother, Mary Havens, Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Heather Malone and Melissa Malone, both of Richmond, Ind.; her grandparents, Alvin and Gertrude Malone, Tell City, Ind.; two nieces; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Arrangements by Maple Hill Funeral Home, KC, KS.
