DIED

In Colorado, July 26th, of disease of the heart, Mrs. Azel D. Galbraith. Born in Scotland April 16, 1835, she was given by her mother, who died three months after her birth, to an aunt, with whom she came to this country. On the death of this aunt, when she was about twelve years of age she was adopted by the Rev. Thomas Aitken, who was so long the beloved and honored pastor of the Presbyterian churches of Sparta, N.Y.

About the year 1855 she was united in marriage to Azel D. Galbraith, who for years was one of the prominent business men of our village and who died here May 5, 1872. The residence of the family was in this village from about 1859 to 1883.

As a child, a wife and a mother she has led a very exemplary life, and many are the stricken hearts which now mourn her departure. Her body was brought here for burial and the funeral was from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Simerson, last Sunday afternoon. Her son, Samuel Galbraith, of St. Louis, Mo., accompanied the body to this place. Her other children who survive her are Mrs. Wm. Mossman, Mrs. Jay Bennett and Azel D. Galbraith, of Fort Collins, Colorado.

She is remembered as one of the most active, constant and exemplary members of the Presbyterian church in this village.
