Obituary - March 27, 2014

Gloria Ella Pubigee Valdez, 69, of Cedar City, Utah passed away March 14, 2014.

Gloria was born to Elias and Alice Brown Pubigee in Malad, Idaho on Aug. 4, 1944. She lived in Washakie, Utah. She went to grade school in Garland, Utah, then to Bear River.
She met her husband, Thomas Valdez, in Bear River. They got married in Brigham City, Utah. They lived in Carland, Nev., where Thomas worked for the railroad. They moved around a lot, moving to Salt Lake City, where she was a seamstress. She owned her own business, Dara Clean, then she was a sales person for Amway. They then moved back to Carland, Nev., where they bought their home. Thomas later passed away.

After Thomas died, Gloria moved back to Idaho, where she was on the council for the Northwestern Band Sho-Sho Nation.

She liked to do beadwork, go camping, picking pine nuts and fishing. She also liked to watch football and baseball, loved to dance and listen to Elvis.

Gloria has three sisters, Selma Matsaw, Lila Jones and Sandra (Joe) Heaton; daughters, Joyce, Julie, Roberta, Addiana and Arron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Valdez; mother, Alice; father, Elias; seven brothers, Aaron, Frank, Archey, Asel, Alfred, James and David; sisters, Kathern and Malinda Hollaway; two daughters, Helen Valdez and Tommy Valdes Dann; and grandmother, Nellie Pabaweena.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a,m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Washakie, Utah Cemetery following the service.
