Melvin Jay Hesse, 94, of Boulder City, passed away March 13, 2015, at Nathan Adelson Hospice. Mel was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Chowchilla, Calif., to parents Martin and Myrtle Hesse. After graduating from high school, Mel married Jean Johnson had two sons, Brian and Mitchell. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, was discharged in 1946 and worked as an electronic technician. Mel married Emily Gordon Sept. 3, 1964 and were married for 56 years. Mel and Emily designed and remodeled their beautiful home in Boulder City. Mel was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Emily. Mel is survived by his sons, Brian Hesse (Barbara) of Atascadero, Calif., and Mitchell Hesse (Gail) of Morro Bay, Calif. He also leaves behind one granddaughter, Marcia; three grandsons, James, Britt and Robert; one stepgranddaughter, Martiel; and one great-grandson, Jake.
