Patricia “Patty” Ann Barker, age 62, of Independence, Kansas passed away Monday May 11, 2015 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Honoring her wishes cremation will take place and a graveside memorial service will be on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 10am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. Friends may register on Thursday, May 14th from 9:00 m to 8:00 pm with the family receiving guests from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Webb & Rodrick Chapel. The family suggests memorials in Patty’s honor to go to A.W.O.L or to the Independence Rural Fire Department and may be left with the chapel.
Patty was born September 18, 1952 in Oswego, Kansas to the late Jack E. and Anna L. (Blackburn) Passwater. Patty graduated from Parsons High School in 1970 and later received an Associate’s Degree from ICC. Patty married Harry Barker on September 19, 1982 in Parsons, Kansas. Patty was employed as a Home Health Aide and was a volunteer at A.W.O.L. She also enjoyed volunteering her time to help the Independence Rural Fire Department with the MDA fundraiser and Firefighter Dinners until her health prevented her from participating. Patty attended the First Baptist Church of Independence.
Patty is survived by her husband, Harry, son, Roy Barker and many aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.
