Fred S. Bernyk, 74, departed this earth on Friday, June 9, 2006. Lovingly known as Poppy to his 12 grandchil dren and one great-grandson. Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Ellen; his daughter, Diane of Rockledge; son, Steve (Donna) of Mel bourne Beach; daughter, Nancy (Mike) of Minot, ND; son, Mike (Marcy) of Palm Bay; and son, David (Teresa) of Mountain Home, ID. He was also known as Uncle Fred to many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bernyk was born July 6, 1931 in Ludlow, MA and was a U.S. Army veteran. He moved to Florida in 1966 from New Jersey. He worked as Harris Corp. for about 10 years before becoming a home builder in 1979, something he had always dreamed of doing. In his semi- retirment, he enjoyed his role as chief estimator for Bernyk Builders. Fred enjoyed many things in his life. Golfing, fishing, bowling and wood working were among his favorites. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. His children have fond memories of weekends at the beach or his never ending help with projects for school, teach ing them to ride a bike (espe cially that black mini-bike) or drive a car; and coaching them, not only in sports, but in every day life. But mostly as being the best Dad anyone could ever hope to have. His grandchildren all grew up knowing his BIG BEAR hugs and endless tick ling, and Fred barely missed any of their sporting events. Fred will be sorely missed by all those who loved him, and he leaves behind his legacy to proudly carry on. We love you, POP! Visitation will be held Thurs day, June 15th, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Palm Bay Funeral Home, 950 Malabar Road SE, with a service on Friday, at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Foun tainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay.
