Milton O. Brownlee, native of North Strabane township, and for several years a resident of Washington, died Sunday, April 17, 1927 in his home, 295 East Wheeling street, Washington. Mr. Brownlee's death followed about two-months illness caused by a fall on an icy street while on his way to church one Sunday morning. Mr. Brownlee was in his 78th year, he having been born November 12, 1849, on what is known as the "Evergreen Home" farm in North Strabane township, near Wylandville. He was a son of Samuel H. and Catherine Clarke Brownlee. Acquiring his rudimentary education in the public schools of his native township, Mr. Brownlee later attended Washington and Jefferson College, completing the course as far as the junior year. October 18, 1871, Mr. Brownlee was united in marriage with Miss Nannie M. Pollock, daughter of James and Ellen Linn Pollock, and until his removal to Washington 1905, engaged successfully in farming. A son and daughter were born to this union, attorney James P. Brownlee of Washington and Catherine Clarke Brownlee, who died October 31, 1909. Mrs. Brownlee, the wife died just nine years ago on April 17, 1918. Since his wife's death Mr. Brownlee has made his home with his son. In politics, Mr. Brownlee was an active Republican and served his party in various capacities. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Washington and was an elder in that church many years. Mr. Brownlee leaves a brother, Samuel H. Brownlee, residing in Farmington, Lee county, Iowa. Funeral services will be held in the street, Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The members of the session of the First United Presbyterian church will attend in a body and will act as pall bearers.
