He was born in Saco on Dec. 11, 1952, a son of Percy and Ellen (Noyce) Abbott. He attended Waterboro and Sanford schools, and was a 1971 graduate of Massabesic High School. He was a 1975 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in civil engineering.
A former resident of Sanford, he had lived in North Berwick for the last 23 years. At the time of his death, he was employed with Advance Building Products in Sanford as its product manager. Prior to that, he was employed with Wasco Products for 20 years, and with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for five years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and ice fishing, motorcycling, boating and camping.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Berwick where he served on the parish council.
He was a member of the United Bikers of Maine and the Wasco Bowling League.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Jo Anne (Laprise) Abbott of North Berwick; his mother of Waterboro; daughter, Andrea Abbott of North Berwick; son, Timothy Abbott of Springvale; two brothers, George Abbott of Waterboro, Robert Abbott of Gorham; two sisters, Ann Abbott of Waterboro and Audrey Flood of Vernon, Conn.
A funeral mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Peace Church, Berwick.
