Joanne M. (DeLuca) Serafini, aged 86, of Commack, NY, died peacefully on April 15, 2015 at Good Shepherd Hospice, Port Jefferson, NY, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 58 years, John Serafini.

Born in Carbondale, PA, daughter of the late Rocco and Josephine Chellino DeLuca, Joanne was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School and attended the Bradford Beauty Academy in Wilkes Barre, PA. When she resided in Carbondale, she worked as a licensed beautician for the Scranton Globe Store.

Fifty four years ago Joanne and John moved to Willingboro, NJ where they resided for 10 years. The last 44 years, Commack, Long Island has been their home. Joanne loved her escape from winter by spending many months at their condominium in Palm Beach Gardens, FL where she enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friends, playing cards and dining out, as well as making new friends and organizing poolside events. Joanne will be remembered for her radiant smile and her love of shopping and talking to people.

She is also survived by 2 daughters and spouses; Denise (Paul) Duane of Columbia, SC and Diane (Joseph) Maggio of Commack, NY; five loving grandchildren; John Ryan Duane, Christopher Duane, Kristen Maggio, Jenna Maggio, and Erica Duane; her brother-in-law, Robert Serafini and her sisters, Mary Ann McAndrew and Joyce McHale and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Cecilia McGovern and her brothers, Rocco, James, and Gerald DeLuca.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation and thanks to the many caregivers, especially Good Shepherd Hospice of Port Jefferson, who took exceptional care of Joanne during her final days, and all family and friends who have expressed their concern and support during her illness.

Services held at the Carmine J. and Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Carbondale, PA. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Marek Wasilewski, assistant pastor and Deacon Michael Zuber of St. Jude's Church, Rochester, NY. Entombment at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.

Pallbearers: Robert Serafini, John Ryan Duane, Christopher Duane, Paul Duane, and Joseph Maggio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Washington, DC.
