Sadie Rocena Hileman

Charlotte NC United States

Sadie Rocena Hileman Mrs. Hileman, of Charlotte, adored Mother, Grandmother and Wife answered her call home and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on April 8, 2008. She was born September 28, 1917 in Huntersville, NC to the late Charles Houston McGinnis and Lottie Estelle Jordan McGinnis. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill 'Jack' Hileman, her first husband and the father of her daughters, Tommy Ferrell, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters and son-n-laws, Geraldine and Johnny Summers of Charlotte, Rocena 'Faye' and Ronald Raper of Mooresville; four grandchildren, Tony Summers, Brenda ' Kay' Summers, Wendy Copenhaver and Matthew Penninger; and nine great grandchildren. As a member of Asbury Methodist Church, Sadie enjoyed working with the youth group and being involved in the Womens Circle Group. Beginning a youth choir and her years as Sunday school superintendent were just a few of her fondest memories. She maintained her membership at Asbury after moving to Charlotte with her family. In later years Sadie attended Calvary Baptist with her late husband where together they enjoyed the travels and fellowship with the senior group. She worked at Hudson and Nebel Hosiery Mill and retired from Hamricks Retail Store. Sadie never knew a stranger and her tremendous love for life showed through to everyone she met. She loved to travel, was an avid gardener and her animals were her pride and joy, but her heartbeats, her Life's truest love were her daughters and grandchildren. Her unconditional love, encouragement, compassion and words of wisdom are treasurers that we will forever carry in ourhearts. Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 11 at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the services from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. The family extends a sincere thank you to her caregivers at Britthaven of Charlotte and the nurses at University Hospital for their kindness and care. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church 2200 Ashley Road, Charlotte, NC 28208 or Asbury United Methodist Church, 11724 Asbury Chapel Road, Huntersville, N.C. 28078. Arrangements by Raymer Funeral Home, Huntersville, N.C.
