Her mother died a year later to Influenza and her father remarried Olive M Strausler who raised Joan. She moved to Swanton, Ohio with her husband and kids, around 1940. Her kids were Jane Frances, Jo Ann, William James, Mary Olive, Robert Joseph, and Sally Lou. William died Aug 13, 1993 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
