J. Dorsey Heffner, 89, died Nov. 11 (1998) at Parkwood Health Care Center, Lebanon. Mr. Heffner was born May 5, 1909, to James and Dottie (Broshar) Heffner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Catherine (Pittenger) Heffner.

Mr. Heffner was a life-long farmer. He owned Heffner's Poultry, Inc. and Heffner's Food Corp. in Indianapolis and Boone County from 1930-84. He was a member of the New Brunswick Church of Christ; Murat Shrine, Indianapolis; Scottish Rite, Indianapolis; Jamestown Masonic Lodge, Jamestown; Indianapolis Board of Realtors, Indianapolis; Gatlin Gun Club, Indianapolis; Ulen Country Club, Lebanon; Elks Club, Lebanon and the Boone County Chamber of Commerce, Lebanon. He was past president of the Boone County Board of Realtors. He was past president of the Indianapolis Horse Patrol, served on its board of directors and was a charter member.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Heffner of Lady Lake, Florida and Howard Heffner of Lebanon; one daughter, Patty Solomon of Lebanon; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Heffner; one sister, Dorothy Heffner and two grandsons.

Graveside services were Nov. 13 at the Old Union Cemetery, Boone County, with Rev. Raymond Duff officiating.
