Louis immigrated to the United States from Gisiwl, Switzerland, via Hamburg, Germany, arriving in New York, NY, on March 16, 1927.

At the time of the 1930 census, he was living in Pacific, District 37, Humboldt County, California. He spoke both Italian and Swiss, was working as a woodsman, and was a lodger living with Joah and Dora Miller and Dorah's son Warren Menting.

By 1940, he had become a naturalized citizen and was still living in Pacific, Humboldt, CA. He was married to Laura Luis and they had four children: Christina Louise (age 4), Arlene Marie (age 2), Betty Ann (age 1), and Louis David (age 2 months).

Louis married Phyllis N. Rothlin on May 26, 1957, in Humboldt County, California.

Mr. Boucher own and operated his Swiss cheese factory on 6th Street in Fortuna for over 50 years. It was just down the block and around the corner from my grandparents' home on 'O' Street and I remember going there often as a child.
