Moved to Houston with her family in 1899 from Knoxville, Tennessee. At age 16, this lively redhead went to work as a telephone operator. She married William Wimberly, and had four children, Charles William, Fannie Louise, Vernon Lane and Carter Wimberly. Like her father, she was an avid reader. She loved to copy poetry, and memorized many verses, often quoting them to her family at the appropriate times. After World War I, she worked for the Veterans' Administration; later employed by Humble Oil in the Land Department. She retired in 1944, and later returned to work for Westinghouse, and the Movie Projectionists' Union. Member of Houston Heights Rebekah Lodge, Heights Chapter No. 258, Order of the Eastern Star.
