She loved to copy poetry, and memorized many verses, often quoting them to her family at the appropriate times. After World War I, she worked for the Veterans' Administration; later employed by Humble Oil in the Land Department. She retired in 1944, and later returned to work for Westinghouse, and the Movie Projectionists' Union. Member of Houston Heights Rebekah Lodge, Heights Chapter No. 258, Order of the Eastern Star.
