The name was originally Bollough. He was christened in Christ Church Parish in Charles Town, S.C. Removed to Rowan Co, N.C. by 1752 and was slow to take the oath to the Colonies and suffered the four fold tax until he did but once he did he became a Patriot and supported the American Cause even selling the army supplies and signing a petition to redress a grievance.
