Sarah Chew Bledsoe was the daughter of John Carter Bledsoe (b.1726 in Spotsylvania Co., VA; d.1790 in Surry Co., NC) and Susannah Dawson (b.1730 in Surry Co., NC; d.1790 in Granville, NC).

Sarah's siblings were Sarah (different person than Sarah Chew Bledsoe), Moses, Agnes, Abraham, Elizabeth and Susannah Bledsoe.

Sarah married her cousin Benjamin "Ben" Bledsoe during 1767 in Johnson Co., North Carolina. Their common ancestor was Abraham E. Bledsoe (b.1673 in VA, d.1753 in NC). They didn't have a common grandmother.

Between 1761 to 1791 Ben and Sarah had 10 children, all born in North Carolina. They named their children: Larkin (b.1767, d.1845), William (b.1770, d.1812), Elizabeth (b.1772, d.1828), Isaac (b.1774, d.1835), Benjamin (b.1776, d.1830), Gilly (b.1778, d.1847), Sarah (b.1782, d.1849), John (b.1783, d.1830), Polly (b.1784, d.?) and Nancy Bledsoe (b.1786, d.1828).

Research Note - Jan 2016:

I have received a suggestion that the maiden name for this FaG memorial for Sarah should be changed from Bledsoe to Chew.

I have reviewed my data sources (nothing that is proof of my current documentation). I do note that perhaps 50% of these suggest her maiden name is Chew and the other 50% have her as Bledsoe.

One source only did call out her parents as Chief Justice Benjamin Chew and Mary Galloway. This source also called out her siblings as: Mary, Anna Marie, Elizabeth, Henrietta, Benjamin, Margaret, Sophia and Harriet Chew.

So with what I currently have in my hands I am adding this note to her BIO about the confusion.
