Arthur was the husband of Edna May (Romberger) Gackenbach.

He was father of Marjorie (nee Gackenbach) (Riddle-divorced) Naeyaert.

A corporal in the US Army during World War I, he was a long time employee of Pennsylvania Power and Light.

I remember him as a real gentleman, much like his wife was a true lady. He had lovely white hair in his later years, and was a soft-spoken man.

His 1983 obituary oin the Allentown Morning Call describes him as working 45 years in the Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L) legal department, retiring as a clerical superintendent. The son of Victor and Alice (nee Albright) Gackenbach, he was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and cofounder in the 1920's of Boy Scout Troop 9 which met at the church 10 years.

He served in the Army Engineering Corps during WWI. Besides his wife and daughter surviving him, he was also survived by a sister Irene (wife of attorney Earl V. Schantz), Dorothy (wife of Herbert W. Christman) and a brother Carl of St. Petersburg FL. Arrangements were handled by Bachman Funeral Home.
