Don Blain Ivory passed away May 10, 2015 with loved ones surrounding him. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Summerwind Ward, 11443 W. McMillan Road Boise, Idaho. Don was born on October 11, 1938 in Fountain Green, Utah to Stanley & Faye Ivory, being the middle of four siblings. He attended schools in Salt Lake City. Don married Pam Davies in 1955 and into this union had three children, Lori, Danna, and Curt. Don went through the electrical program while in Salt Lake and opened "Don's Electric," working many years in the Valley. The family relocated to Boise in 1973 when Don became Idaho's first training director for the I B E W. Don & Pam later went their separate ways, but always remained good friends. Don married Denise Johnson in 1990 and gained not only a wonderful and dedicated wife, but also an extended family that he loved dearly. Don's work with the I B E W had him going between his offices in Boise & Pocatello until retirement in 2000. The Electrical Training Center in Garden City, Idaho was named after him for his 27 years of service. Don received numerous awards & labor acclaims from previous Governors of Idaho. Don enjoyed water and snow skiing, fishing, golf, gardening, and had a passion for raising exotic waterfowl. His humor and quick wit along with his quirky little grin will be with us all forever… he will be missed tremendously. Don is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Denise J. Ivory of Boise; his children, Danna Ivory of Boise, Curt Ivory (Cheri) of Meridian; three stepdaughters, Kathi Hoopes (Rich) of Thayne, WY, Brenda Torres (Thad) of Lehi, Utah, Lisa Shackelford of Boise; one stepson, Steven Bowers (Danielle) of Heber City, Utah; his two sisters, Voniel DeMill (Don) and Carol Archuleta (Jim) both of Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lori Ivory; a stepson, Mitchell Bowers; two brothers, James Ivory and Winston Ivory. The family would like to thank the staff at Overland Court for their compassion and care for Don. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Interfaith Sanctuary or to a charity of choice . Condolences may be made at www.bowmanfuneral.com.
A Celebration of Don's life will be held at a later date this summer.
