General John C. Brogan, 98, of Golf, beloved husband of the late Eleanor, nee Kirkland; loving father of Tracy Brogan; stepfather to James S. Kemper III and Linda Kemper Fair; dear grandfather of four; cherished great-grandfather of three. He was born in Antioch, IL. John received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois in 1936. In World War II, he fought in campaigns in N. Africa and Italy. Among his military decorations are The Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Air Medal and Croix de Guerre. He worked with Rollins Burdick Hunter until purchasing Youngberg-Carlson, which he sold to The Ryan Insurance Group, which later became AON Corporation. John retired in 1985. He was a name at Lloyd's of London. John was an avid supporter of the USO through the years, and served as president from 1977 to 1978. In retirement, he joyfully played as much golf as possible and was a contestant in the Bob Hope Desert Classic for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Lyric Opera of Chicago, 20 N.
