William S. Preston, formerly a resident of this city (Albany, NY), died in Angouleme, France, May 17. His remains were buried today in the family plat in St. Agnes' Cemetery. The services the grave were conducted by the Rev. Father Dillon, of St. Mary's Church (Albany, NY). The funeral took place from the People's Line Wharf (Albany, NY) this morning at 9 o'clock

Obit: summary- Death of William S. Preston is announced at Angouleme, France. He was formerly of this city (Hartford, CT) and had been United States consul at Liege Belgium and later at Cognac,France. He was 74 years old and was a brother of the late Monsignor Thomas S. Preston of New York, and of George B. and Edward S. Preston of this city. He entered business as a commission broker in flour and grain in New York 54 years ago and was at one time a member of the Produce Exchange. He was married twice, the second time in 1875 to a Cuban widow, Dolores Augalo de Arozarena. He retired from active life about seven years ago. (no date of death was indicated in this article).
