He was born in Sangamon County on Oct 1905 the son of James and Phebe Duffey Stephens. He married Rose Mary Day in 1928.
Mr.Stephens was a retired farmer and was also formerly employed at N.M, Buckley and Sons wholesale Florist for 16 years.
Preccding him in death were four brothers, William, Elmer, Isaac, and Charles Stephens.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mary Belle sommer of Springfield; one son, Percy R. Stephens Jr. of Springfield; four sister,Bessie Palmer of Roodhouse, Martha Stalling and Nellie Bain, both of Springfield, and Velma Elmore of New Berlin; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 P.M. Tuesday at the Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev. Keith Masten Officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery
