Ellen grew up in western Iowa. She was schooled in nursing and through that got a job at Shawano hospital. There she met a sister of Paul Falk who set them up on a date. Their first date was on the first day of winter. He proposed on Valentines Day and they were married on the first day of Spring. She was tireless in her efforts as a nurse, a farm wife, a mother of 3. She played organ for St. Paul Lutheran church in the township of Washington for decades.
Ellen was always sewing and knitting relief supplies for her church's ladies aid missions. In her final years she was still serving everyone around her - picking up groceries for those unable to get out, making meals for the sick, visiting friends in nursing homes.
She kept sharp doing crossword puzzles and playing Boggle daily. Her pragmatism was tempered by bouts of goofiness which I'm happy to say have been passed down through her progeny. :) She is missed and loved very much.
