Richard passed away on February 19, 2015, in Pleasanton, California.

Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ginger; parents, Clarence and Corinne; and brother, Douglas "Duke". He is survived by children and their spouses: John and Barbara Aafedt, Cindy Aafedt, Susan and Ray Bartlett, Eric and Debbie Aafedt; grandchildren: Jad and Raven Abousoud, Jinny and David Dvorak, Whitney and David Moore, Shelby Bartlett, Hillary Aafedt, Laura England Witt, Anya Aafedt and Ben and Tiffany Parrish; great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Madden, Maisy and Jordan. He is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Judy Aafedt, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Richard retired from Chevron after nearly 35 years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish during many annual camping trips, along with other family vacations. He will be deeply missed by all his family.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 7557 Amador Valley Blvd, Dublin on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11am. Reception will be held following the services.
