William L. "Bill" Aker, age 80, of New Paris, Ohio died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at his residence. Born on August 8, 1925 in Centerville, Indiana, he was the son of the late William & Ruth (Ulmer) Aker. He was a 1943 Jefferson High School graduate. Bill served during World War II in the United States Navy on the USS BEARSS (DD 654) and the USS CAMBRIA (APA 36). He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church of New Paris, Ohio. Bill owned & operated Aker's Restaurant in Lewisburg, Ohio and Aker's Furniture & Appliance Store in New Paris, Ohio.

Survived by Wife: Gay (Rowland) Aker of New Paris, Ohio; Sons & Daughters-in-law: Fred & Kim Aker of New Paris, Ohio and John & Beth Aker of Huber Heights, Ohio; Grandchildren: Ashley Aker and Sarah Aker both of Huber Heights, Ohio. Many Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, Ohio with Rev. LaDonna Clary officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the funeral home.
