Norman Roy Koehler was born on July 23, 1930 in Pine Lake Township, rural New York Mills, Minnesota. His parents were the late Rudolph and Taimi (Bass) Koehler. Norman attended country school in Pine Lake Township. On October 11, 1952 Norman was united in marriage to Jean Ione Petersen in Homestead Township. Their marriage was blessed with four children. They resided in Pine Lake Township for 3 years, then moved to the North Shore, where Norman worked construction. In 1959 Norman and Jean purchased a farm in New York Mills, Minnesota where they have resided and worked ever since. He enjoyed fishing in the summer and spear fishing in the winter along with deer hunting and running coytoes with the hounds. Norman was very fond and gentle with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He served on the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Council, Homestead Township Board and the Co-op Board for many years. On November 13, 2014 Norman passed away at Perham Living in Perham, Minnesota at 84 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Norman in death were his parents.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Jean Koehler of New York Mills; daughters: Lynn (Steve) Johnson of New York Mills; LeAnn (Casey) Hughes of Phoenix, Arizona; Naomi (John Grimestad) Koehler of Horace, North Dakota; Loren (Rhonda) Koehler of New York Mills; 8 grandchildren: Kari (Mike); Matthew (Jessica); Alexis (Andy) Lindsay (Adam); Whitney (Tyler); Channing; Tristan and Nicolle; 8 great-grandchildren: Leah, Levi, Hadley, Jada, Jett, Jemma, Jade and Norah; sister, Bernice Koehler Johnson of Minneapolis; brother, Duane (Ruth) Koehler of New York Mills; many other relatives and a host of friends.
