KERRVILLE - Mr. Alvin Joseph Kunz, 77, of Kerrville, passed away Friday, June 22, 2001, in a Kerrville hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Fredericksburg, and had been a Kerrville resident for 17 years. He was a retired clerk with the department of the Navy. He was currently employed by Wal-Mart as a greeter. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church.
He married Alice Josephine Hanvey on Nov. 11, 1960, in Washington, D.C. She preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 1984.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mary Jane Hughes of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Helen Kunz Jenschke of Houston, Ella Marie Kortemakz of Missouri, and Eleanor Ballard of New Braunfels; a brother John Kunz of Texas; and a step-granddaughter, Sharon King of Florida.
A rosary for Mr. Kunz will be recited Sunday, June 24, at 7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 25, at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Boulette officiating. Graveside services for Mr. Kunz will be Wednesday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, Va.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
