Lois Arlene (Klatka) Lousberg, age 75, died May 16, 2015, at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke. Lois was born Nov. 21, 1939, in Holyoke to Felix and Beata (Rayfield) Klatka.

She graduated from Haxtun High School in 1957. She married Duane “Shorty” Lousberg May 17, 1958, in Fleming at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Her career started in 1960 when their first child was born. She was a stay-home mother, bringing five more children into their family, until 1967 when Shorty purchased the bar in Julesburg. They worked together there until 1975 when they moved to Venango, Neb., to continue their business.

In December of 1988, they sold the bar and she went to work at the dairy farm east of Venango for four years. Leaving the cows behind, Lois began selling Avon. She worked for Avon for over 20 years and loved spending time with her clients and buying things for her family.

In her last year of life, Lois spent time with Shorty in their house, watching television and reading.

Lois was preceded in death by her mother, father and oldest brother, Earl.

She is survived by her brother, Don and Loretta Klatka of Port Arthur, Texas; her husband, Shorty; six children, Brian and Wanda Lousberg of Firestone, Theresa and Steve Barry of Ogallala, Neb., Russell Lousberg of North Platte, Neb., Scott Lousberg of North Platte, Neb., Darren and Cindy Lousberg of Thornton, and Rodney Lousberg of Westminster; nine grandchildren, Amy Barry, Jessica and Stefen Sloggett, Traci and Kyle Longenecker, Britany Lousberg, Chad Lousberg, Chelsea Lousberg, Katie Barry, Shanna and Sean Murphy, and Dylon Lousberg; and two great grandchildren, Zoie and Zander Sloggett.
