Delores Acy Tackett of Greenwood died May 20, 2015 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Born February 27, 1947, Delores graduated from Vaiden High School in 1965. She married William Tackett on September 3, 1965 and was happily married for 49 years. Delores lived her life as a loving wife, devoted mother and faithful servant to others.

Delores and William left Greenwood in 1981 and raised their boys in Covington, Louisiana. They moved back to Mississippi in 1989 and bought Acy's Grocery and Deli, where they worked side-by-side each day for the past 26 years in the family business. She was known as an amazing cook and enjoyed treating her customers and friends like members of her family.

Delores was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and served as church pianist for several area churches through the years. She was actively involved in Vacation Bible School and G.A.'s and enjoyed sharing the gospel with children in the community.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grady Acy, and brothers, Bobby, Joe and Larry Acy. She is survived by her husband, William Tackett; sons Reggie (Sandy) of Mandeville, Louisiana, Rodney, and Randy (Beth) Tackett of Greenwood; brothers Billy (Bobbie Jewel) Acy of Greenwood and Jerry (Joyce) Acy of Madison; sister-in-laws Loretta Acy and Libby Acy of Greenwood; grandchildren Cody (Lisa) Tackett of Killeen, Texas, Caitlyn (Tyler) Thomas of Franklinton, Louisiana, Dalton Tackett of Mandeville, Louisiana, John Hollis and Sumner Tackett of Greenwood; great-grandchildren Anna Kate and Addisyn Thomas, Carter Tackett; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and family members.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Friday at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood, and at 10am Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Carroll County. Service to follow at 11am Saturday, May 23, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Rev. David Haggerty officiating. Burial will follow the service in Mount Olive Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stanley Acy, Jared Acy, Garreth Acy, Trevor Acy, Jimbo Moore and Greg Thigpen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Mount Olive Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
