William Floyd Richardson died peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 21, 2015, in Kettering, OH., at the age of 89 years.
Floyd was born on February 28, 1926 in Carter County, Ky.
He graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in Education. He was very accomplished and compassionate about educational issues throughout his career. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the CBI during World War II.
Floyd was preceded in death by his father, Kit Richardson, mother Minta Richardson, one brother and four sisters, all from Carter County, Kentucky.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 66 years, 8 months, Phyllis Gail Erwin. He is also survived by his four children, Sharon Stocksdale (Stephen) of Bucyrus, OH., Brenda L Gould (J. Michael) of Estes Park, CO., Dawna Sue McColl (John Gordon) of Azle, TX., and William “Bill” Averell Richardson of Miamisburg, Ohio. He leaves behind nine grandchildren, Stephen Grant Stocksdale Jr., Valerie Stocksdale Izikoff (Steve), Christine Gould Blackbee (Chris), Michael Christian Gould (Tiffany), Christopher Terry, Elizabeth Terry, Alison McColl, Andrea McColl and Jesse Richardson. He also was blessed with five great-randchildren, Sean Grant, Marissa Jade, and Robb Yale Stocksdale Izikoff, and Oscar Christopher Gould-Blackbee and Christian Declan Gould. Everyone enjoyed Grandpa Richardson’s tall tales and story telling.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home and Cremation Service 149 Whitt St. Olive Hill, KY., with Scott Cauley officiating. Burial will follow in the Messer Family Cemetery, with military honors performed by a detail of the U.S. Army from Ft. Knox KY.
