George traveled Central America extensively for his company, including Costa Rica, Colombia, Panama, Spanish and British Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica, and Cuba.
He married Marriage to Jessie Lydia Carranza 6 May 1916 in San Jose, Costa Rica; they had three sons:
George Peter Chittenden Jr. - Born 10 Feb 1919 in Limon, Costa Rica and died 6 Oct 1989 at the U.S. Consulate - San Jose, Costa Rica
Thomas Gerald Chittenden - Born 26 Sep 1921 in Port Limon, Costa Rica and died 19 Mar 1994 in Lucerne, Lake, California
