Elmer e. Eastlund was born January 5, 1914 at Dalbo, Minnesota the son of Andrew and Anna Ostlund. As a young adult, Elmer moved to Minneapolis where he met Esther Beckman. The couple were married October 19, 1938. They became the parents of two children. For a time during WWII, the Eastlunds lived in California where Elmer worked in the shipyards. After returning to Minneapolis, Elmer was employed for 30 years as a machinist for the Graco Company.
Upon retirement in 1976, the couple moved to Alexandria. Elmer enjoyed the outdoor sports especially hunting and fishing. bowling was another activity he enjoyed.
Elmer died at his home in Alexandria on March 7, 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Esther, a resident of Bethany Home; son Marvin Eastlund of Brook Park and a daughter Marlena and husband Henry Hall of Deer Creek, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A funeral services was held March 12, 1998 at the Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Forrester officiating. Interment followed in Kinkead Cemetery with Mark Eastlund, John Eastlund, Christina Eastlund, Lois Frybarger, Tony Frybarger and Jerry Hollatz serving as pallbearers. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria.
