Dr. Ronald C. Redus, 56, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 21, 2006.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Bankhead, Dr. Murray Gossett and Dr. Winfred Moore officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

He was born on July 11, 1949, in Dallas. On July 10, 1971, he married Pamela Palmer in Amarillo. After graduating from Tascosa High School, the University of Oklahoma, and Baylor College of Dentistry, he completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Baylor University Medical Center. For the past 27 years he had a private practice in Amarillo.

Professionally, Dr. Redus served as president of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, president of Panhandle District Dental Society and chairman of the Texas Board of Health, Emergency Health Care Advisory Committee. In 1997, he was named as the Texas Emergency Medical Services "Man of the Year."

Ron was a Christian man devoted to his family and committed to serving others. He was an avid sportsman, never missing the annual Baylor Oral Surgeons' trip. He and Pam loved traveling the world together. He was a passionate volleyball dad and a loving Pop-Pop to Reagan and Brooks.

Survivors include Pam, his wife of 35 years; two daughters, Mary Ann Leinen and husband Derek and Rebecca Redus; a son, Clark Redus of Austin; grandchildren, Reagan and Brooks Leinen; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Lonnie C. Redus; a sister, Jan Gibbs of Atlanta; a brother, Mark Redus; and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
