Andrew A. Adams of Holland, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 92.
He was the beloved husband of Pauline Dopirak Adams for 64 years.
Born in Hawk Run, Pa., on Feb. 6, 1922, he was the thirteenth child of fourteen children born to the late Joseph and Mary Yuhas Adams. He was preceded in death by his seven brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Adams was a resident of Holland for the past 27 years. He graduated from Bridgeport High School, class of l941.
He was one of six brothers that served in the Second World War. He was a proud Marine Corps veteran who received two Purple Hearts for his injuries on Iwo Jima. He was discharged from the Marines as a Sergeant in 1946. He started his own business in 1977 and was superintendent and vice president of two construction companies, H.C. Lawton and Alaco Construction Company, before retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Northampton Country Club where he was an avid golfer, and Northampton Fitness Center. He will be sadly missed as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his four children, Andrea McCartney (Daniel), of Southampton, Pa., Denise Finkelstein (Mark), of Levittown, Pa., Andrew Adams (Lisa) of Nescopeck, Pa., and Paula Murray (Kenneth) of Newtown Square, Pa. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 9:30 a.m. until his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, Pa. 18966. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 75817, Topeka, KA 66675.
