Riley served in the United States Marine Corps as a Scout Sniper and Team Leader in the War On Terrorism / Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He was a 2002 graduate of Eureka High School where he was the school's first Missouri State high school wrestling champion. He also was a honorable mention All-Metro linebacker for the Eureka Wildcats football team.
He was a member of the Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Riley enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents: Grier Baker and wife Lisa of Pacific, Missouri and Katie Melies and husband Dave of Union, Missouri; two sisters: Megan Baker of Pacific, Missouri and Kristina Cordova and husband Aaron of Denver, Colorado; one step-sister: Sara Melies of Union and two step-brothers: Christopher Melies and David Melies of Union, Missouri; paternal grandparents: Channing and Margaret Baker of Eureka, Missouri and John Stewart of Fenton, Missouri; great uncle and aunt: Ken and Beth Elam of Eureka, Missouri; maternal grandparents: Tom and Shirley Casey of Pevely, Missouri and Dave Melies Sr. of Koeltztown, Missouri; The Moore Family; 3BN, 8th Marines Sniper Platoon: Daniel 'Boo' Stanaland; Sniper Team II: Sgt. Hamilton, LCpl Mediroers, Doc Leviner, LCpl Briskin and LCpl Fitzpatrick and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Valle and Bert Elam.
Services: Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eureka with a Memorial Service following the visitation at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Alex Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps.
