Charlie is survived by his wife, Annabelle Albaugh of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Paul Atkinson of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Ian and Alison Atkinson of San Diego, California; sisters, Carol Schmitz of Litchfield, Linda Broberg of Monticello, Loraine Lynch of Litchfield; brothers, Larry Albaugh of St. James, Nathan Albaugh of Colorado Springs, Colorado; mother-in-law, Madeline Rewitzer of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Marion Rewitzer of New Ulm, Shirley Huiras (Donald) of Fairfax, Judy Schewe (Barry) of New Ulm, Doris Loverude (Dallas) of New Ulm; brothers-in-law, LeRoy Rewitzer, Vernon Rewitzer, Melvin Rewitzer (Shelly) all of New Ulm; and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Herman Rewitzer; brothers-in-law, Arnold Schmitz, Kenneth Broberg; nephew, Kerry Schmitz; and by a sister-in-law, Marlene Rewitzer.
Charles Lee Albaugh was born October 8, 1939 in St. James to Oliver and Doris (Nagel) Albaugh. He attended St. James Public Schools. He joined the U.S. Army in 1962 where he served as an aviation mechanic. Charlie served a tour in Vietnam before returning to the United States to serve the remainder of his six year service and was given and honorable discharge in 1968.
He was united in marriage to Annabelle Rewitzer on August 5, 1967 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Charlie was employed at Tires Plus, US Postal Service and was owner of C&A Machining and Welding in New Ulm. He was a member of the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post #132 in New Ulm.
Charlie enjoyed building antique cars with which he won multiple awards for his Model A and 1957 Chevy. He also enjoyed attended out-of-state cars shows with his wife and car pals, horseback riding and riding his horse in area parades. Charlie cherished his time with his grandchildren, especially taking them fishing and watching them play soccer. Charlie, Dad, Grandpa you are dearly missed by all. You will always be with us in our thoughts and in our hearts.
