1936 - 2015 PERU Esther Mae Ward Strout, 79 of 10 Weeks Road, went home to be with the Lord and into the waiting arms of her adored daughter, Susie Strout, and her beloved husband, Red Strout, Sr. on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. and Dale Weeks. She was born on April 9, 1936 in Springfield, MA., a daughter of the late Leon Ward and Gladys Morris Ward Pelletier. She was a graduate of Chester High School and had spent her childhood in Becket where she resided for several years. She was retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Sugar Hill Senor Living Community and was previously employed at Berkshire Nursing Home. Her family was the joy and center of her life, she also enjoyed the ocean. Her husband, Louis M. Strout, Sr. whom she married on May 18, 1953 died October 10, 1974. She is survived by seven daughters, Barbara J. Weeks and husband, Dale of Peru, Donna M. Sakaske and husband, Joel of Chester, Connie L. Southard and husband, Ricky of Washington, MA., Lynn A. Pease and her companion, John Murray of Becket, Lori A. Canfora of Peru, Joanne L. Main and husband, Eric of Middlefield, and Carol F. Strout and her companion, Warren Wetherell of Hinsdale, two sons, Louis M. Strout, Jr. and wife, Susan of Pittsfield and Michael E. Strout of Williamstown, a sister, Olivine Virginia Miodowski, 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Susan E. Strout on April 9, 2013 and by a brother, Nevitt Morris Sr. and by three sisters, Juanita Blake, Pauline Braica and Leta Young. The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to Esther's very kind nurses Geri Ravlich and Mary Bedient as well as Hospice Care in the Berkshires. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be private with burial in North Becket Cemetery. Calling hours at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME 890 East Main St., Dalton, MA. will be Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice Care in the Berkshires both in care of the funeral home.
