Ann Tynan Carpenter, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at home with her husband Lon, at her side. Ann was born in San Antonio on November 11, 1928 to Edward Walter Tynan II, and Louise Feehan Tynan.


She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lon P. Carpenter; her sisters-in-law Judy Tynan and Mary Louise Borgman, and by many adored and loved nieces, nephews and cousins; and by her life-long special friend, Patricia Holden Frost. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Walter Tynan and Richard Tynan, sister, Mary Tynan and nephew, Dennis Tynan.


Ann graduated from Jefferson High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she pledged Kappa Alpha Theta. She served on the boards of directors of the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Foundation and the San Antonio Chapter of the American Cancer Society. She was always active in her beloved church, St. Anthony de Padua. Ann loved her home, her Catholic faith and Lon.


A liturgy of Christian burial will be held Monday, June 1, 2015 at 1:00 PM at St. Anthony de Padua church, 102 Lorenz Road. Fr. Bill Collins, M.S.C. will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A reception honoring Ann's life will be held at The Argyle, 934 Patterson Avenue immediately following interment. Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Georgie Fischer, Tom Frost, Albert McNeel, Tim Tynan and Thad M. Ziegler. Pallbearers in absentia are Burton Barnes, Cecil Casebier, Jesse Erben, Charlie Gates, Lukin Gilliland, Sr., Larry Hensarling, Porter Loring, Jr., and Franklin Tarver.
