Mr. Leon H. Borry, age 101, formerly of Shillington, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Broad Mountain Home in Frackville, PA. He was the widower of Pearl L. (Leininger) Borry, who died on September 26, 2001. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Samuel W. and Edna M. (Hunter) Borry. Mr. Borry was a 1932 graduate of the former Shillington High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a Bronze Star recipient serving during WWII. He was employed as a Quality Control Supervisor at the former Jackson Rope Company in Reading. He was a Lay Minister for 25 years at Saint John's U.C.C. in Sinking Spring. Mr. Borry served as a Charter Member and Scout Master of Reading Troop # 42. He was a member of the Ephrata Lodge F. & A.M.
Surviving are two daughters; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a step-sister. He was predeceased by three siblings. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association , 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
