Royal Eugene (Gene) Collins, 81, of Fort Collins, peacefully passed away at home on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006. Gene earned his doctorate in physics from Texas A&M University and had a long and rich career as a university professor, consultant and author of several graduate-level technical text books. He was frequently published in the important journals of his field with his last work published in 2005. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Melissa, son Roy, granddaughter Lauren, and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him tremendously. In accordance with Gene's wishes, cremation has occurred and no additional services are planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Fort Collins Public Library or to Hospice of Larimer County.
