ABNEY, DAVID WRIGHT, 82, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

He was born in Buckner, KY on January 4, 1932 to the late "Pete" and Elizabeth Speer Abney.

He was an Air Force veteran, a former Kentucky State Police Trooper and retired from Naval Ordnance. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years. He was a past Grand Royal Patron of the Order of the Amaranth of Commonwealth of Kentucky, past Watchman of the Shepherd of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of Robinson Lodge #266 F&AM and member of the Kosair Shrine. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Cornelia Adams.

Mr. Abney is survived by his loving wife of almost 31 years, Deanna Cloyd Abney; children, Debra Ann Abney Turner, Neil O.W. Abney (Donna), Martin D. Abney (Saundra), Pamela D. Saltsman and Capt. James M. Hardy (Dawne); 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Ingram; many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral ceremony will be noon Monday, March 10, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
