Lucille, 85, was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri. She had 13 brothers and sisters. For many years, she worked at Katz in downtown St. Joseph and also as a professional seamstress.

After she married William Burknett, the two purchased a farm north of the city on Huntoon Road.

William preceded her in death as did many of her brothers and sisters, including Thelma Branson.

She and "Uncle Billy" were survived by a son, Billy Burknett of Arizona, whom Lucille lived with after William's death, and several grandchildren.

Lucille was a very sweet and caring woman. She loved animals and people. Everyone in the family always said: "Be careful about what you say to Aunt Lucille, because she's very sensitive."

Most of her life she'd suffered from a Parkinson's type disorder, which she suffered greatly from. When she was in her 80s, her condition responded to a new drug, which finally controlled the condition.

I loved staying at the farm when I was a child. She always made me miniature pancakes for breakfast, and her kitchen always smelled like bananas.

She's greatly missed.
