Born Oct. 23, 1839 in Grainger Co., TN to Preston D. Haskins and Nancy Jane Elizabeth Glass Haskins. On July 16, 1861, in Ozark Co., he enlsited as a Private in the Missouri Home Guard with Capt. Stone Commanding. The Unit was disbanded on Oct. 18, 1861 and on Nov. 22, 1861 he joined the Phelps Reg't Mo. Vols. as a Corporal under Capt. George W. Evans and was mustered out on May 12, 1862. On Aug. 5, 1862 he was ordred into duty with the 73 Reg't E.M.M. Co. G as a Corporal under Capt Sallee and served 216 days and was relieved from duty on Mar. 22, 1863. He was ordered into active service April 1, 1863 by Gen. C. B. Holland and served under Major McMahan until discharged on Oct. 31, 1863. On Sept 7, 1864 he enlisted and served with the 46 Regt. Inf. Vols. Co. "I" as a Sergeant under Capt. Regland until being mustered out on May 20, 1865. On April 24, 1865 in Mansfied, Missouri he married Elizabeth Jane Martin and this union bore 11 children. In Ozark County in 1880-81 he was selected to serve as Judge of County Court Western Div. and again in 1886. In 1889 he became the Judge of Ozark County Probate Court and was to hold this position through 1918, however due to ill health he resigned April 14, 1917 and died in Sept. of that same year. Lorenzo was well respected throughout Ozark County.
