"After a lingering sickness with maladies brought on by his old age, Col. John Hill died Saturday night. He was an old soldier and was widely acquainted in G.A.R. circles. Mr. Hill spent the greater part of his life in this county. He was seventy six years old. "
John W. Hill served as a corporal for the Union in the Civil War, Company A 32nd Kentucky Infantry.
